Who said it would be 5%? Reigning in spending raising taxes is going to put a strain on GDP. This is going to have a disastrous effect on the employment numbers. We have two separate problems...the economy and the debt. Paying down the debt is going to hurt the economy and not make it better. There has been drunk spending since Reagan. We have been living off borrowed money to expand the economy. You limit that you are going to quickly see what our economy is actually supposed to look like and it is not going to be pretty.
