What exactly does the term "race card" mean? Is it an attempt to deny that other groups have been treated horribly in our past and continue to be treated unfairly today? I doubt it is a term MLK used very often.
Racism is a plague that HAS touched virtually every issue in this country and should be discussed as such.. doesn't mean it should always be a deciding factor...but it should at least be acknowledged. It isn't a problem we have solved or moved beyond.

Martin Luther King would probably scold Loony Leftists for playing the race card noting that we had a black President for eight years who was voted into office by white people. He'd be appalled that the Left wants to go backwards in time, demanding segregated colleges and events for blacks only, etc.
