How about if you factor in the 1st year in office, instead of just 2010 - 2013?
The 2009 budget was created during the Bush years. The US budget runs from Sept to Sept so the 2009 budget went into effect in Sept 2008 and ran until Sept 2009 when the first "Obama" budget started (the 2010 budget - which ran from Sept 2009 to Sept 2010).
THAT'S why the article starts with the 2010 budget. The 2009 budget was leftover from the Bush years.

Got it?

So you're basing it off the fact that Bush did a decidedly liberal move and did the bailouts? What was Bush's 2007 budget? Compare Obama's smallest year of spending with Bush's 2nd largest. I wonder what that is?

I was explaining WHY the article started with the 2010 budget rather than the 2009 budget.
Do you have reading comprehension problems?

The spending levels of the 2009 budget was extraordinary circumstances so basing how much spending has increased on that year is smoke and mirrors. The following numbers are all constant 2005 dollars:

Cumulative increase over 2001 spending levels from 2010 to 2017: $9,280 billion
Get it?
LOL
You folks clearly don't WANT to understand (why am I not surprised).
First point: The article wasn't LOOKING at a SINGLE year, it was looking at each President's ENTIRE TERM.
Second point: Yes, 2009 was an EXTRAORDINARY EVENT. Don't you the think that EXTRAORDINARY EVENT had some FALLOUT? Consequences of an EXTRAORDINARY EVENT don't just end at the END of the YEAR.
Your position seems to be that Bush deserves a break because his administration saw an economic collapse but Obama doesn't - even though he's had to deal with the CONSEQUENCES of that same economic collapse?
Give me a break.

Exactly but how many of them started out with baseline budget with an extra 500 billion in it to compare too?

The only position I've taken in this topic is the claim that the budget under Obama has not increased is a bogus because they are comparing his budgets to the porkulus budget of 2009.

Need I remind you that Bush BEGAN his Presidency with a SURPLUS.
Even WITHOUT the 2008 collapse, that was longggggg gone by the end of the Bush era - and that wasn't even counting the cost of the 2 wars that were LEFT OFF THE BOOKS (ie out of the Bush budgets).
