Well it's long past time. Russia is the most natural US ally there is. Rich in resources beyond measure. Able to stomp on Islamic extremists all over the region and the future superpower of Europe. Only a braindead President would not try to tie the bands of friendship tight with the Russians. Like Mitt for instence.

Agree with lucknow. All those Wahhabi Islamic fundies in the Causus region are dangerous probably worse than the Taliban. I hope Russia eliminates them.

Oh the hypocrisy...

Mitt Romney's Son Went to Russia With a Secret Message for Putin

This week Mitt Romney’s son Matt traveled to Moscow for business and, reports say, allayed any concerns the Russian government had about his father’s harsh stance on Russia. When it comes to Russia, Mitt Romney has been brash, at one point labeling Russia “without question our number one geopolitical foe” and “a geopolitical adversary.” He’s also repeatedly lashed out at President Obama for allegedly being weak on Russia. But according to a New York Times report, Matt Romney is trying to convince Russia that the tough talk is just talk.

Mitt didn't say we shouldn't try to get along with them, he said that they were a geo-political adversary and Obama shouldn't have offered them more flexibility after the election as Putin would take advantage of that weakness (Obama replied that the 1980s called and wanted their foreign policy back - and democrats bahed up a storm).

Have you changed your opinion?
