When the economy is in free-fall and 10.6 million Americans lose their jobs and economic stimulus is necessary, of course it is. Why wouldn't it be? Your objection to this basic fact is rather ... odd.

Oh, now I get it. You like to extrapolate simple math into partisan talking points because it ... what? ... makes you feel better? Advances the dialog? Works towards a solution?

Just parroting what Pelosi said so that's Dem talking points there

She's the one that said for every $1.00 a person receives in food stamps, $1.79 is put back into the economy. Such a simple "stimulus" that it should be nationwide and given to all Americans, don't you think ? Sure beats bridges to nowhere.

My cousin is in NYC and works in the union. Yes, there is funky stuff going on with out of state non union workers that came to help. Oh they are not turning them down, but they are not assigning them work.
There was some confusion during the height of the crisis, but your assertion here is just not true.

It wouldn't work because people who aren't dead broke are already buying food.

Just admit to yourself that SNAP works and you can stop getting so worked up about disproving all of the facts that are against you.

My initial comment was that SNAP is listed as a stimulus program, not a welfare program.
Of course SNAP works...we have been hitting new highs of SNAP applicants each month for over a year now.
The numbers clearly indicate that more and more Americans are taking advantage of this "stimulus program".

According to the dems food stamps stimulate the economy and folks should be able to go out and start their own business with their unemployment checks. That is what they sold to the fools and that is what they voted for. Let em rot in their misery in their ignorance as far as I'm concerned. A good dose of reality when the ship hits the iceberg will do some folks a bit of good. The rest can just go down with the ship captained by Barry Hussein.

And you're whining about gay partners who won't work?
These stay at homes must be scamming the system by your viewpoint.
They don't work, they don't earn it.

Isn't that what you're saying about gays?

Everyone makes choices, don't they.
They make them for themselves, you don't get to make it for them.

Equality for all or benefits for none.
What will it be?

When 10 million people are out of work and have no money of their own to spend, giving them money to spend on food, IS STIMULATING THE ECONOMY.

That will hasten the demise of the traditional family structure. If that is your goal, then your are right on target.

?
It was recognized by past generations that it was important to society for a parent to be available at home to raise children. Today children are raised by day care centers, public schools, and each other, with the predictable result of deteriorating social mores. I suppose I shouldn't expect you to understand that as your value system is clearly far different from mine. Raising a child to be a decent and productive member of society is the most important job a person can have.
