You can refuse all you want, but you are forgetting about the Medicaid expansion.
You may not know it but within the next five years, Medicaid will exceed cost and enrollment
over that of Medicare.

States have to pick up costs of administering Medicaid expansion and cost for new enrollees
that qualify for benefits, which will happen under the insurance mandate.
Obamacare expanded Medicaid to an add'l 16M folks; anyone under 65, making up to 133 percent of the federal poverty line.

You know who pays for this -"Federal Taxpayers" and folks that actually pay non subsidized premiums.
You want a fair health care system - have universal single payer and have EVERYONE pay a
Medicare tax.

With Obama's so called health care reform, you have too many at the bottom that don't
have a clue what things cost, at other's expense. It's inequality at it's worst.

A related effort, expanding affordable access to cell phones for low-income Americans, was created by another radical liberal by the name of George W. Bush.

As for the larger context, Dave Weigel's point bears repeating: "Shockingly, despite the bipartisan origins of the service, the idea of an 'Obama Phone' for the undeserving has existed for a long time. You know what else has existed for a long time? The Drudge Report hyping up tabloid news that makes black people look like violent dopes who'll do anything for more goodies from Obama."
On the basics, you are correct.

"Low-Income Program participation and support payments have increased since 2005 due to many factors. Program participation was stable from 2005 to 2008, from 6.9 million to 7.1 million participants, but increased to 8.6 million in 2009. Likewise, support payments were relatively stable from 2005 to 2008, from $802 million to $823 million annually, before increasing to approximately $1 billion in 2009. The increases in 2009 were primarily due to the addition of a prepaid wireless service option in certain states, which allows program participants to obtain a free wireless handset and an allotment of free minutes each month.

Who was President when program participation was stable and who was President and who ran Congress when the program exploded to the huge increases?

"Senator Claire McCaskill found an offer in the mail at her Washington condo last year that sounded too good to be true. The flier said the Missouri Democrat—a millionaire many times over—could apply for a free cell phone, complete with monthly service, paid for by the federal government. From what McCaskill could tell, “you just had to check the box” saying you met the income requirements, submit the form, and collect the phone, she says. The senator suspected something wasn’t right and began looking into it. What she found was a federal giveaway gone astray: In some instances, the government is handing out multiple phones to the same people. And there’s no national tracking system keeping tabs on who’s enrolled—or whether participants even qualify.

The rapid growth means the government is paying out a lot more money—$1.6 billion in 2011, compared with $772 million in 2008. An audit last year found that 269,000 wireless Lifeline subscribers were receiving free phones and monthly service from two or more carriers. In December, McCaskill asked the FCC to examine Lifeline, writing, “I am troubled by the expansive potential for the program to be abused.”
How an FCC Free Phone Program

Just like most fed programs there is way too much waste fraud a abuse with very little oversight and control.

"Remember, as it was originally conceived, Lifeline is supposed to help low-income Americans have telephone access to first responders during an emergency. Now the FCC is proposing to change the program into a vehicle to subsidize Internet access – all with money collected from mandatory fees on non-eligible consumers.

FCC to Expand Obama Phones into Internet Subsidy

The OP I originally responded to could NOT have used his "free" cell phone to post but, he might be able to in the near future.

For a 'senior Member' you are not very bright! It takes only a few brain cells to research enough to know that the republicans 'king' Ronald Reagan started free phones for poor people. It was expanded by Bush and Clinton to include cell phones. Obama has nothing to do with that policy!

Of course you refuse to "count" Obamacare. It is one of the biggest entitlements in US history. It is like Hitler refusing to acknowledge a little "incursion" into the USSR as an example of aggression.

I mean a person can rightly say that the healtcare bill was an expansion of entitlements it lowers the income of those who qualify for medicaid. I gives subsidies to so citizens can afford insurance.

That is a legit way to say he entitlements although those changes haven't kicked in yet. Basically, President Obama has not expanded entitlements besides the healthcare bill.

Payroll tax elimination;the healtcare bill subsiding those with prexisting conditions; having healthcare law that increases medicaid rolls hugely; the subsidty that will go to income levels to pay aprt of their healthcare pools cost. The amount state medicaid cost will icnrease starting in 2017; Massive increase in unemployment coverage; having employers mandated to include those to 26 on healthcare insurance;having many things like birth control included in mandated coverage;having unlimited lifetime benfit mandated under new healthcare insurance. that is just off the top of my head.

It's not that entitlements have expanded, but fewer employment opportunities were available. Sure you would prefer to work, but you'll take food stamps at 10% of your former salary if that is all there is. That is why he is known as the "food stamp President."

Obama is The Food Stamp President not just that a poor economy is causing it. This comes from Tom Vilsack, the Secretary of Agriculture, in his own words on Morning Joe back in August 2011.

"U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack backed a White House claim that food stamps, which the Department of Agriculture administers, actually constitute a stimulus program, describing it as 'the most direct stimulus you can get into the economy during these tough times.' 'The reason the number of recipients has increased is that the federal government has been working more closely with local governments to get more Americans on food stamps,' Vilsack said."

Ag Secretary Vilsack: Food Stamps Stimulate Jobs

What Vilsack and the Obama administration is really doing is making more people dependent on the federal dole to stimulate Democrat voting.

"According to CBO, in the years ahead the share of the population that participates in SNAP will fall back to 2008 levels."

House Agriculture Committee Farm Bill Would Throw 2 to 3 Million People Off of SNAP — Center on Budget and Policy Priorities

So to sum it up, put a whole bunch of additional people on food stamp rolls so they vote Democrat to keep their freebies, then cut the same number of people off the food stamp rolls to make it look like you are cutting spending and that it happens AFTER Election Day. Once you are in for your second term, you don't care.

And the news media just rolls over and plays dead.
What you are saying is right on the money. Unfortunately most Americans are clueless on what the Democrats and Obama where doing these past couple of years. Simply put Obama bought millions of votes, by giving out all this FREE STUFF. Very sad, but very true.

Just in case you didn't know, there can be no comparison between Obamacare and Medicare. Obamacare will cost the taxpayers billions of dollars to implement. Just be patient, your taxes will be raised to help pay for all those people who are not working, but will be covered by insurance (at your expense), and the quality of our health insurance will take a nose dive. I feel the people who are willing to pay for health insurance deserve to have it, while the people who do not work and therefore can not pay for insurance do not deserve to have it. Why should I have to pay for the health insurance for someone who is too lazy to work? This is not longer American, land of the free. This is the United Socialist States of America. And, it's going to get worse than it is right now.
