You've got a couple of different issues going on here, that is, medicare cuts and this device tax. I don't know how the device makers are going to cut back on labor unless they make fewer devices.
There's always positions you can eliminate and keep production going. Not every person works the line.
The schools had huge cutbacks and they are still operating ? That's just one example.
If they're laying off now, in anticipation of something that will happen in two months, yes, they're lying. The device makers aren't going to pay the tax anyway. The consumers of said devices will pay it. If the consumers need the product, they'll pay. They may b****, but they'll pay.
There is also that legislative and regulatory Armageddon that 0bama has created, it is only 51 days away. That alone is enough for smart business owners to prepare for now.
What many of you are not taking into consideration is that the companies that are not performing well and/or laying off people will be replaced with a more efficient one with better benefits under Obamacare. Wait a minute! Is'nt this what mitt was talking about letting them go bankrupt? The conservatives should be happy because none of these companies are getting any bailout money

Isn't this how capitalism is suppose to work? Strongest of the fittest and whatnot? The way that I look at it, those companies that cannot adopt to change will disappear the way of the dinosaur. A another company that know how to handle changes better will replace them.

Does it make a difference if one company pays 1 billion in taxes or four pay 250 million? Why should we rely on a few companies when we can open up hundreds more?
It's a convenient excuse if the company isn't doing well. Parts of the ACA are already in effect. They're lying.

The taxes are due to go into effect in 2013, so, since we didn't see ACA get overturned, and we can't easily repeal it, they must adjust. They cannot afford it. "Oh, yeah, sure." you say. Not every school in every state that had budget cuts "increased class size".
Get rid of elective programs that didn't attract many students is one example.
Hire more coach-teachers rather than coaches and teachers
Replace library staff with parent volunteers running the library.
Janitor only comes around once per day to clean and not twice so he can be shared between two schools rather than have a janitor at each school.
There..that's just a few budget cut implementations done in the schools.
Not everyone teaches. Just like with these medical device companies..not everyone works the line producing parts.
And schools are similar to factories done in sequential order and producing a finished product.
