Finn, you never answered my question. Why is marriage considered to be immoral? fyi: homosexuality is not illegal.

Even that tribal take on the subject appears to be more about individualism than collectivism. But, it is the latter, that makes you bring this up.

It is unjust if you do not have a just argument that supports a law. A law is an action, and actions must be rational if they are just.

I don't necessarily "support" gay marriage, and I do believe that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin. I do think the Bible tells us to judge (other Christians, not non-Christians) and that the verse that says "judge not, lest ye be judged" is usually misintepreted. But I think we are to "judge" (discern) right and wrong, not necessarily go around telling others what they are doing wrong. No sin is greater than another, and all of us sin, so while you may consider homosexuality a sin, sex before marriage is also a sin - and no greater a sin than homosexuality - so if you are guilty of that (or anything else), it is the same in the eyes of God.

The Bible does say if a brother (fellow Christian) is doing something wrong you are supposed to go to him alone and talk to him and if won't listen, go back with another brother, and if he still won't listen, go back to him with the church. But it doesn't say to do that to non-Christians.

I think we should be more concerned that what each of us does is right, instead of trying to make others do what we think is right. We aren't going to be held accountable for what anyone else did, but only for what we did.

I personally think each person should be able to make their own choice about gay marriage, abortion, etc.

you could edit the title to read "Christians who are against slavery" and leave the implication intact.

The Bible is a laughable fairytale and anyone who bases their life on a 4,000 year old book written and rewritten by Middle Eastern fishermen is ignorant to the world around them.

But I understand that liberals tend to remove and rewrite things if it doesn't fit their view. Even the Bible.
Religion is controversial, adoption, entertainment are also controversial but still they have their own forum.

Bible studies belong either at your church or in the Christian fanatic forum. Many of us don't care what Matthew 69 or Luke 666 says. We are not removing crap we simply don't care.

As a Christian who supports gay marriage I think that passage is irrelevant. We have religious freedom in this country. That means people aren't required to be Christians so why should they be required to follow Bible commandments?

At the same time, I will not condemn Christianity over the Bible's admonishments about homosexuality either. In a primitive society strong nuclear families were essential for survival. No medicare, no unemployment benefits, no social security. It makes sense to discourage homosexuality in the times in which the Bible was written.

Oh, I'm sure a lot of them wish it still was.

By you're right that this thread would be more logical if it discussed the legality of sodomy, not same-sex marriage (since sodomy is, at least per the OP, what the quoted parts of the Bible is referencing).
