Never in history, prior to Obama, has the US credit rating gone down. If my debt is at such a level that it causes my credit rating to go down, it reflects that it is waaaay too high and I need to lower it, not raise it.

The two biggest contributors to the deficit:

1. Bush tax cuts

2. Middle east wars.

Like I said before. It's 100% a GOP baby.

Regardless of whether that is true or not, the debt ceiling does not need to be raised. If the Bush tax cuts caused so much issue then they all need to be recinded, not just on the top group.

I don't think anyone wants to see their tax bill increase. But the truth is it will probably have to be - for all of us.

Also, maybe lots of folks haven't been looking that closely at what they're already paying. State and local taxes for many have skyrocketed, mostly as a result of "unfunded mandates" fromthe Feds. Many, if not most, arising in the Bush years.
