Since there are a lot of threads on Jews and Palestinians because of the crisis I thought this would be a interesting article to post a thread about. This was a study done by Johns Hopkins University and I believe this will upset many Jews about their lineage and claims of legitimacy for the state of Israel. I had trouble opening the link so I googled. Seems the link is being touted on Stormfront ( white pride), Truthtellers, Lunaticoutpost and other similar places.
A search of John Hopkins for anything remotely connected to this study came up with nothing.
I suspect the minute invested in this topic is more than it deserves.
The more science advances the more we'll learn about our ancestors...
It came as a surprise to me years ago when they made the announcement that based on the Mitochondrial DNA evidence everyone in the world has African roots...

I found a review of "The Jews of Khazaria" on Johns Hopkins University's site. My quick scan of it indicates it's about people in Khazaria who converted to Judaism (and hence the title "The Jews of Khazaria", as opposed to something like "The Jews are Khazars") and that there is evidence of survival of such Jewish Khazars in Europe. It does not make the case that all European Jews come from these people. In fact, it states the paper writes of "the Khazar contribution to Ashkenazi Jewry (judged to be small but significant in the last and longest chapter)."
According to the review, some scholars posit that the majority of Khazars in mid-10th century were Jewish - not that the majority of European Jews were Khazars.
It's not my goal to upset you. It was my goal for you to read the article.
