Beats me. It seems likely that although there are plenty of angry white guys (judging by this forum at least), there are relatively more minorities, women, younger voters who are not yet angry, college and higher educated voters, and metro voters. So, in relative terms the angry white guy vote is shrinking. Unfortunately, not many people really want to "caucus" with the guys who have spent most of the least few decades talking about how much they can't stand the lazy, stupid, effeminate, irrational, elitist, communist, morally-bankrupt folks in the rest of society. Talk radio is a smash success because angry white guys love that endless "We're right! You suck!" narrative. Closemindedness is not appealing.

From our perspective, it is kind of good that they cluster together, because they are loud, belligerent, and seemingly incapable of embracing new perspectives on science, policy, economics, etc. They seek complete dominance. Witness all the discussion about "real conservatives" in the GOP. Unless you think just like the Glenn Beck wing, you are no longer welcome. They have chosen to become increasingly irrelevant. They have created their own private Idaho, where they can shout themselves hoarse. Fine with me.

Reagan did immigration fix in 86 and Bush II tried in 06. Obama ignored it for four years and he got more Hispanics/Asians than the Republicans. I see no evidence that the GOP needs to push it. Let the Democrats bring it up.

“There’s no need for radical change,” wrote Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer. “The other party thinks it owns the demographic future – counter that in one stroke by fixing the Latino problem. Do not, however, abandon the party’s philosophical anchor.”

This is exactly why the Republican Party finds itself in its current position relative to people of color. Note that the GOP's quandary is referred to as "the Latino problem". The GOP's problem is not Latinos. The GOP's problem is the GOP. It's The Angry White Man mindset (as stated by South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham). While Krauthammer may not be considered ultra-conservative, his couching of the issue in this manner sends a clear signal to the rest of the country about how this issue is regarded by Republicans.

Daily Kos: 'We're not generating enough angry white guys'

White conservatives completely failed to learn the lessons about race relations when they were taken to school over 60 years ago prior to and during the Civil Rights Era when black people's demand for equality was commonly referred to by conservative whites as "The Negro Problem".

Is history is repeating itself?

I sure hope history is repeating itself because we do have 'The Negro Problem' as the article states as well as a illegal 'Mexican Problem'.

So, in other words they need their Etch A Sketch moment. What annoys me is that although most politicians pander to a degree, this current party of the extreme and hateful, does not really stand by anything that they will put forth just for the sake of winning an election to retain or get back power. The Tea Potty has driven them so far right that the only way to make a comeback from the brink of extinction is to sever the limb that is dragging them down. Do you see that happening? These people are still trying to sell the virtues and benefits of voodoo economics because it is profitable for them. No one wants what they are selling and changing the sales pitch is just disingenuous.
