A quasi-religious cult surrounding Barack Obama has been present from the beginning. Recall "Obama Be Thy Name" from 2008:

The latest development is that Obama nativity figurines are selling like hotcakes in Naples, Italy.

Really? Religious-cult?
You don't know what you're talking about.
In Naples there's a street (Via San Gregorio Armeno) characterized by countless artisanal stores which sell nativity figurines: the funny thing is that they don't sell just traditional ones, you can also find politicians figurines, as well as rockstars, actors, etc etc...
Once I found out Madonna, Michael Jackson, Leonardo di Caprio, Hillary Clinton and... GEORGE W. BUSH!

Thanks for letting us know what's really going on. On the ground info is always better than media spin.

Very well, I appreciate the info.

Still, Obama does have the closest thing I've ever seen to a cult following in an American politician - especially among foreigners for some reason.

And I'll bet the Obama figurine out-sells all the others.

Well, Catholic countries are a little funny that way. Cuban-Americans sold Elian Gonzalez relics on Ebay for awhile. Pretty soon they'll see the Virgin Mary in someone's tortellini and forget about President Obama.

Whatever floats their boat.
