first thing that will happen is federal aid will stop.. which will make almost EVERY red state besides maybe texas turn into a 2nd or 3rd world country within a decade.

what texas does have that would potentially keep it successful though would leave and relocate somewhere else due to the level of uncertainty it would create, and many of the federally funded programs like NASA for sure leaving... killing jobs and opportunity.. but I'm sure there will still be plenty of walmarts and taco bells for people to work at for job growth still

Are you unaware, by ignorance or choice, of the amount of federal assistance that pours into our nation's largest cities by the billions, in mostly Blue states, blue states which are being crushed under the weight of their own debt because of bad government policy?

No offense to the city-data forum crowd in general, but the lack of education around here is alarming. Although, it's probably just indicative our of education system.

Oh yes, I mean Obama and the left's policies are so wonderful so it couldn't possibly be an issue with that. It has to be simply racial!

Spare us with your race card garbage. The constant accusations of racism from the left are the sign of intellectual bankruptcy since you guys have nothing else up your sleeve so keep at it if you want to be laughed at.

No one is going to secede.

They'll make a stink, blow a lot of smoke, and in general try to scare the DEMs into concessions on taxes, but those jerks aren't going to give up their SS, Medicare, Medicaid, military pensions and other programs.

Funny, when white man Clinton was elected there was no talk of seceding.....hmmmmm

I'm well aware, but they're not the ones wanting to leave the union.. and being the largest most populated cities.. means they are paying proportionately more of the revenues into the federal government..

education is important.. perhaps you should better understand percentages.. like tax revenue per population, and tax expenditures per population..
states receiving the most financial federal assistance PER POPULATION are red states.. which means proportionately, blue states or cities having financial issues, is due to less of their tax dollars coming back to them, but going elsewhere.. like building 500 miles of freeway through the wilderness here in idaho.. where 1.5 million tax payers couldn't in their lifetimes afford to pay for themselves

or bridges to nowhere in alaska...
these states do not have the ability to fund such large scale projects of national interest.. in fact.. if idaho was to become it's own country.. it wouldn't even be able to come up with enough tax revenue for the UPKEEP of what has been invested here by the federal government...that's a fact!
but if you think you're better off.. get after it.. but i think YOU"RE being a little ignorant here not me

BTW, IMO it is the cry babies talking about secession that are the 'naysayers'.
You have to much faith in your government...nothing can stop a ideas whose time has come...NOTHING

Guess you never took the time to think about WHY there is so much aid huh? We would take care of that.

That is probably because, during the Clinton admin, the US had a solvent economic and monetary model, and we were on the precipice to one of the largest economic expansions since post WWII.

So, Mike, before you conveniently throw a racial cloak over a social/economic issue, maybe you should really sit back decide what a responsible stance on this issue should be.

The entire system is broken, showing signs of a cracked foundation, and once it starts to fall, then, only then, will people like you start to understand the necessity of secession.

I'm not saying that some of these people aren't idiots or racially motivated, but I am saying this isn't a racial issue. This country, for the last 12 years, has put the wheels in motion to initiate the largest collapse of a republic man has ever known, and the only way for solvent areas of the US to protect themselves is to secede.

Boiseguy: sorry, I can't get myself to respond to your incoherent babble above, I wouldn't even know where to begin...

These people rarely put their money where their mouth is with this type of stuff. Would they really subject their families to the possible nightmare that could come with seceding from the United States?

The USSR fell -- empires and dictatorships tend to collapse when the debt burden becomes unbearable -- and that of the USA certainly has become that.

The government dependent like those on Medicaid and in Section 8 could be relocated to the states that do provide plenty of welfare handouts.
