We have a younger generation that hates traditional religion and hates evangelical Christianity who vote pretty solidly Democrat. They vote for policies that will destroy this country because they have such a hatred for Christianity they cannot possibly vote for a candidate that has the support of the evangelical community. Why the hatred for Christianity? Perceived homophobia is probably the most significant.

Bottom line its not evangelicals who doomed America. They have simply held to tradition. It's today's socialist liberals have have universal support from young people who vote for them only because they approve of their sex preferences. End of story.
The Evangelicals, as the author states, are "easy prey" for big money that utillizes the Evangelical dogma tio proliferate divisivness. This is not about hatred for Christianity, it's about religion being inserted into politics and government by big money people whipping people into a frenzy and not abiding by the actual teachings of Chrisianity.

An alternative version of reality from creationism to denial of global warming - Creationism can be anything from theistic evolution to young earth creationism. Why does it matter to you liberals what people believe anyways? As for global warming, there are few deniers, even in religion. Where the debate is is how much is caused by human activity.

The “fact” that Jesus will soon return so that none of this matters anyway - Islam teaches that Jihad will get one paradise and virgins. Liberals champion Islam for cultural diversity. Once again, why aren't liberals content to allow Christians to believe what they choose?

The “fact” that America must always defend Israel because the “Bible says so” — even as Israel slides into becoming an apartheid state that will be submerged by its own structural Zionist injustice to Arabs and may take its “greatest ally” (the USA) down with it - Quite ironic how liberals are against the one middle eastern country to have legal gay marriage, while embracing the Arab nations who kill homosexuals

The refusal to embrace gay rights - Homosexuality is against the Christian Bible and was socially unacceptable in America and the world before pretty much the past 15 years. Most young people are passionately for gay rights, but you can't force people who grew up in a time when homosexuality was equated with pedophilia to all of a sudden accept it as the wonderful, enlightened thing America today says it is.

The whites-in-charge mentality even as demographics change and America becomes a brown country - This is untrue. Go to any megachurch today and you will see all different enthicities represented

The circle-the-wagons head-in-the-sand home “school” movement pitting individuals against their communities - So what, parents have the right to home school their kids. Most homeschoolers have communities in which their gets socialize and even compete in sports with other homeschoolers. You just hate homeschooling because it means there are kids who are out of reach from your liberal indoctrination

The odd alliance with the NRA and “gun rights” by Christians who say they follow the Jesus who said ”turn the other cheek” - You ban guns and only criminals have guns. Plus, once the second amendment falls, the rest of the Bill of Rights will soon fall as well. Of course, you would want that because you ultimately want to ban Christianity, and can't because of that pesky First Amendment.

The retributive version of war as a way of life to punish the world for “not liking” us - I strongly disagree with this and think war should be a last resort.

The acceptance of the lies and outright racism of the shrill anti-Obama Fox News-type reaction to a black man in the White House… - More liberal propaganda. Obama is the most anti-American, left-wing radical to have ever been President. It has nothing to do with him being a black man.

This country was doing very well through most of its history until somewhere we decided that the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah was a good model for our country.
wish I could rep you.

No, it's not about religion being "inserted into politics and government". It's people voting what they believe in. You can no more ask a Christian to leave his/her principles and values behind when going to the polls than you can ask an atheist or left-wing liberal to leave their convictions behind. People have the right to vote what they believe, whatever it is. That's why we have the privilege of voting.

And you'd be just as opposed to those who "abide by the actual teachings of Christianity". Actually, many do but the left wouldn't find that acceptable either. So, really, it is about hatred for Christianity, in any of its forms, as it exists or as it is perceived.

I hope the GOP just fades away, and takes with it the evangelicals, gun fanatics, government haters, racists, homophobes, and radio blowhards, i.e., the entire GOP "base" -- all of which had to be sucked up to by the GOP primary candidates until the nation had a belly full of their lunacy and voted for what was the vastly lesser of two evils. And I voted GOP for decades, as far back as Nixon, but I cannot recognize today's GOP from the party that has given us such greats as Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Bush-41 and others.

He is doomed when people realize that he's a total fiction, just like the other 3700+ deities that have been listed since 4000 BC.

Not to mention that comments from the idiot Santorum during the primary made MILLIONS of females cringe in fear of such remarks that sex is only for procreation and birth control should not be available. The dumb shat of a former PA senator didn't seem to know if he was running for president or pope. Of course, during GOP primary season, all GOP candidates must tell the evangelical nutjobs what they want to hear.

Not all Republicans are evangelical, nor are all evangelicals Republicans. That anyone would try use him as a credible commentator on the subject is not thinking clearly himself and is most likely doing it for ulterior motives.
Nevertheless, exit polls indicate that 78 % of white Evangelicals voted for Romney.

Exit polls 2012: Where Americans stood this election - The Washington Post

And states with a high percentage of Evangelicals like Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma are strongly Republican.

Probably half that evangelical vote was based on pure racism, i.e., the Southern Baptist Convention was always the home church of the KKK.
