From time to time I see a lot written about the NAACP being a racist organization and being... well like the Ku Klux Klan so I'm a bit curious about membership requirements.

Often times the people who call the NAACP racist are people who have a soft spot for the KKK.

The NAACP is a racist organization because it was formed to help only one race of people. When they start helping other races of people, I will change my mind about them. I don't know what the requirements are for joining the KKK and have no interest in knowing what they are since I would never belong to either organization. I am not into racism of any sort.
If I was a black man in West Virginia when Sen Byrd was in office and saw he brought in as much as $4 for every dollar that went out. I'd don a white rob and dance in the streets. I'd rather be a 400 percenter than a 5 percenter any day. Course I'd bring my own music.
I get no kick from champagne but I get a kick out of youuuuu
I don't know. Proably the black panhthers and KKK would be a better example or perhaps balck gangs. I think that nay ethic association is the right of anyone as long as it private organization.WEe have many black social organization here for example. We have a italian american assocatio that does social work ;dozens of chritian organizations by demination that do same. All private and I belong to none and its all rgiht with me if they exist.IU have attented some of their celebrations and charity events tho and enjoyed myself.

You may not be "into racism," but you certainly aren't very knowledgeable about the NAACP... since they already do help other races of people, are you ready to change your mind now? Somehow I'm guessing you don't care about the facts, and will continue believing what you want.
Yes, it was FORMED to assist people of color, since at that time nobody else was advocating for their rights - and that was a time of institutional/legal segregation and discrimination, before you ask why they needed such a thing. Since then it's expanded into supporting civil rights and equality for ALL Americans, and I personally have met non-Black people who've benefited from their services (scholarships and so forth). All you had to do was visit their website, and you could have known all of this. But I guess it's easier just to assume things?
"While much of NAACP history is chronicled in books, articles, pamphlets and magazines, the true movement lies in the faces--the diverse multiracial army of ordinary women and men from every walk of life, race and class--united to awaken the consciousness of a people and a nation. The NAACP will remain vigilant in its mission until the promise of America is made real for all Americans."
