Congress and the President need to get together and figure out a bipartisan approach to fixing the deficit. That, in my opinion, is what the people want.

The Repub. Gov. are now trying to look sane and running away from the Leg. and Sen. of their states to be elected again. The issue is more people will be able to see inside the state govt. and will not be happy with what they see.

And this caustic attitude and open disdain for fellow citizens is reason number one why Republican's lost this election. You have proven the point of countless threads.

It is amazing how Republicans who lose elections are still quoted in the media. If P. Ryan knew what the American people wanted, he'd be the elected Vice President right now.

President Obama and the Democratic party as a matter of reality have the upper hand in raising taxes if they so choose, that is all the "mandate" they need.

This has been true since the President signed the extension of those tax cuts which were then set to end in 2013 as long as they won the presidency and retained control of at least one house of Congress.

The rich are going to pay more. Republicans may as well prepare themselves for that reality.

Once again, the media and the conservatives are going to delude themselves into the thinking the they have a choice on higher taxes.

Look at reality, when the President signed the extension of those tax cuts they were set to end in 2013. The thinking by the republicans is that the President would lose his re-election bid and the incoming republican president would make the tax cuts permanent.

President Obama's calculation was the opposite that he'd be re-elected and let the tax cuts for those making over $250,000 expire and extend them for everyone else.

Obama won the election, those tax cuts for the wealthy are going to end at least on income above $250,000.

The Republicans have zero leverage. This tax fight is over. The taxes for the wealthy are going to go up as long as President Obama and the Democratic party wants them to increase. This is objective reality.

People don't give a f c k about the deficit and neither do the Republicans. The first thing the Republicans did when they re took the house is have the President extend tax cuts that added like 834billion to the deficit.

It is a sham.
What the President needs to focus on is jobs.
