If it was mad eto make Affordable Health Care, why hasn't the cost of healthcare gone down? It has actually gone up. It hasn't made health care more accessible to people, it just requires that they have it. You don't have car insurance to take care of oil changes and regular maintenance, you have it for catastrophic events and protection. Same thing should be for health insurance except everyone expects health care to be free now.

If the government (Democrats) wanted to make truly affordable health care, they would have tried working with the Republicans to make real affordable health care. They would have listened to some proposals other than their own and felt that those were what was best for the people, not the agenda.

The ironic thing is that they stamped in "Affordable Healthcare Act" and people think that it is affordable. The easy to see fact is that there is nothing affordable in it. As we can see, businesses are already cutting worker hours, laying off people and doing whatever they can to work around this kind of oppression. How is that helping people? It is tough to pay for healthcare when you have no money to pay for it. Most people are going to put food on their table rather than buy healthcare insurance.

Healthcare is not a right - it's a consumer product. Like luxury cars, smartphones and big screen TV's, either you can afford it or you cannot. Society, and taxpayers, are in no way obligated to provide it for everyone.
Surely by now you do understand that we all already pay for healthcare for low income people. All this Obamacare does is get the money from your your other pocket.

It was to enable insurance companies to raise premiums and make even more profits.

Another example of Big Business and Big Government working together for the benfit of only themselves.

Genesee Health Plan

The above link is what our nations health plan should have been. Take care of all preventatives and generaric scripts. Then people can decide on coverage they want to pay for for hospitalzation.

http://countyhealthplans.org/portals/0/YesYouCan.pdf

The above is a detailed explaination. Please read this. This plan has been working for a county for years. It is a perfect example on why health care plans should have been done on a state or local level instead of a national one, but it could have been copied to be a national plan if it had to be.

Of course -- and to get Obama a whole lot of votes from those who now expect unlimited free health care -- after all he's promised he's going to destroy the horrible rich and successful so everything will be great for those who envy them.

He failed to mention it's the hard working middle class who will actually have to pay -- and between the huge Obamacare taxes, and the fiscal cliff taxes, and rapidly rising property taxes to support the schools for all Obama's illegals --- it's going to get pretty rough on those who work for their livings.

Well, "expand the size of government" is not exactly the goal... but it is the outcome. More storm trooper IRS agents running around making sure everyone is buying HC and fining middle class people...

the actual GOAL of Obamacare was to break the system to the point that Americans demand a fix. THEN dems will get what they want. A nationalized single payer healthcare system run by the government with deathpanels and all.

THAT is what they want. That was the plan all along, and guess what? THAT is exactly what we will get in about 10 years.

Exactly what I was going to say but you said it better. The goal of Obamacare was to break down the system and force as many as possible, eventually everyone (other than certain exclusive groups granted exceptions) into a single payer system.

I know the left doesn't like the term 'death panels' but by any other name it's still the same function. I'd rather see it called what it is.

Think for a moment.......would you as an American stand for death panels in the delivery of our health care? Would 300 million Americans stands for this? No we would not, ever. Since all Americans would be united on this, except for the 1%, you can bet your bottom dollar the Fed would fold on this issue. There never will be a death panel as we have today, and that is a for-profit insurance company that is always sitting there quietly between you and your doctor.

The purpose was to provide insurance to those that couldn't afford it or could not qualify for it.

A simple expansion of medicaid/medicare could have solved it with these people paying premiums.
If that truly was the goal, the solution was right there within the government.

Absolutely correct, but have to add it was created by Congress persons plus ridiculous lawyers who made one god-awful mess of our health care.

Just hope we can get rid of this mess. Proves that government needs to stay out of all areas not authorized by the Constitution. Period!!!
