I would also add I've driven through some rural areas in Mexico. I thought that Native American reservation in NM was more depressing.

As far as NM, though, it did go for Bush in 2004 narrowly and it elected a GOP governor in 2010.

Hey! As what counts as a Seattle Native around here (I've been here over six months) I have to say yes, it does rain all the time and the people are pricks! There is nothing to do and it is an all around bad place to live so please stay in sunny California.

Seattle is beautiful in the summer, but summer there is pretty short-lived. I have never seen anywhere in the NW other than Seattle itself, other than seeing Mt. Rainer/Mt. Saint Helens and other scenery flying in. I'm sure it's a very nice area but the weather sucks (though I've heard that nearby areas have much less rain and that even Portland has less rain than Seattle).

What an insane premise, people are people always! I haven't traveled in many red states but I've met people in other countries that don't even speak my language I could communicate with and relate to on a certain level. I'm sure there are plenty on here that would be scared to drive through areas of my neighborhood in bluer than blue Philadelphia.

There's nothing dangerous about driving through the rural Deep South, just don't go onto anyone's property.

I've driven through both. Oklahoma on a semi-frequent basis, been awhile for Mississippi. Only scary part is how dumb the native drivers are in those states. Like not stopping at the stop sign for a gravel road intersecting a US Hwy, pulling out in front of you and going 45 mph when the speed limit is 65. That kind of thing.

Here in Texas, we have an old saying, "The reason Texas doesn't slide off into the Gulf of Mexico is because Oklahoma sucks."

I imagine road trips are a nightmare for liberals.

You also imagined a big Romney victory.

So much for the ol' imagination, joe.

At least native americans have an excuse to be poor as all their lands and property was stolen, were treated as outcasts and scvm by your redneck bretheren and had no opportunity to educate themselves or accumulate wealth.

What excuse do your conservative brothers in oklahoma have?
