No I won't support "the plight" of the Walmart worker.

If the walmart worker wants to better themselves then they need to do it on their own accord and through their own effort.
We have Community Colleges with certificate programs, 1 year programs and 2 year programs that give you training to get a better, higher paying job and we also provide money to you if you don't have it.

That Walmart cashier job is an entry level, no skill job, not a career for the rest of your life.

Exactly.

I got an education, so should they...

Best way to support the plight of the Walmart worker is to not shop at Walmart. Shop where workers are, in your view, paid fairly. Shopping at those retailers will grow their businesses and allow them to hire away from Walmart.

Problem solved.

Oh the solution is there alright. It has always been there.
But people don't want to go out of their way to support that solution.

Instead, turn to government to solve it for them.

No need to join any political party to receive checks.

Has anyone run for president on the platform of eliminating/reducing unemployment benefits, SNAP benefits and/or Section 8 assistance?

I really do not understand how somee get so wound up about feeding children and ignore that many of the most profitable large corporations use the tax code to avoid paying any income taxes on their jaw dropping profits. These corporations, their senior officers and major shareholders make contributions to both parties and lobby Congress to maintain the system that gives them a substantial edge over small business.

Walmart didn't become #1 without consumers buying their stuff and putting the Mom & Pop's out of business in every town they landed in.

Keep crying about the corporate greed and think of it when you park in Wallymart's lot to do your food shopping.

Walmart didn't get to be #1 by itself you know.

Walmart greeters, gone.
More registers open where customers self scan and bag and thus less workers.
Hire a temp staff for unloading merchandise and night stocking.
Hire a trucking company instead of their own drivers.
Instead of 1 worker in each dept they will have 2 depts.
Etc etc, ad nausem.

And then when it is all said and done and by time the workers pay their union dues they end up with a whole quarter a hour more. Man, they are in the union they are movers and shakers now

Greeters have a security function and I don't see them being eliminated under wage increases.

I have n o real opinion about what the employees of Walmart are trying to do, but I've always found it amusing when people go on strike to protest low wages... it seems a bit counterproductive. "I want to be paid more money/work more hours, and I'm not gonna work until I get what I want!"
