If Israel didn't care about civilians the same way HAMAS didn't, a very simple Israeli move would prove a very strong point.

Israel to launch the SAME Exact rockets back into Gaza that HAMAS fires into Israel (in the same random callous way), the same number of rockets per square area, and much to the world's astonishment, you will see TONS of Palestinian fatalities from precisely the same rockets.

Why? Because HAMAS goal is to MAXIMIZE their casualties with the goal of making Israel look bad and evil. Israel, in contrast, wants to MINIMIZE their casualties because as much they could gain global points by making HAMAS look bad, more important than making people feel bad for Israel, is actually caring about Israeli civilian lives not being lost. Unfortunately, this is Israel's big challenge that is a "laughing non-issue" for HAMAS.

It's too bad that it puts you at a disadvantage in what you can do when you have too much heart for your own citizens to live.

I am upset by the terrorist attack, but I am at least as upset over the suffering that the US has caused. It is in this context that 5000 dead has to be seen. If the U.S. government has a legitimate right to bomb and kill civilians in Iraq, the oppressed has a moral right to attack the U.S. with the weapons they may create as well. Dead civilians are the same whether they are Americans, Palestinians or Iraqis." When asked if he supported a terrorist attack against the US he answered: "Terror is a poor weapon, but my answer is yes, within the context I have mentioned."

The UN does not resolve anything.

Just five years after the UN was created by the US, they dispatched a multinational force of 21 nations to deal with North Korea's invasion of South Korea. The US, naturally, played the biggest role by providing 88% of the military force involved. Fast forward 64 years, and we are STILL at war with North Korea. Nothing was resolved.

In 1974 after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus the UN got involved with their "peaceful negotiations," and 40 years later Cyprus is still divided. Nothing was resolved.

In October 1993 the UN got involved with their "peaceful negotiations" in Rwanda in order to prevent genocide. Their "efforts" resulted in more than 1,000,000 deaths by 1996. Nothing was resolved.

The UN accomplishes nothing and resolves nothing. There is not a single nation on this planet that has benefited from anything the UN has ever done.

If anything the UN has become a hindrance to peace. In 1996 the UN allowed Hezbollah to fire Katyusha rockets into Israel from one of their own bases. Just recently the UN was busted storing rockets for Hamas in the Gaza Strip, in a school no less. Then they have the audacity to condemn Israel for retaliating against those UN sites, when the UN is directly complicit with killing Israelis.

The UN a waste of space and taxpayer money, like all failed liberal causes, and needs to be abolished utterly.

So you are implying that what he is saying here is biased and therefore, untrue? What part is not true? And what is your version?

Also, he was raised Catholic and is now an atheist, fwiw.

Having a parent from different religions is pretty common. Some homes bring up their kids with a little of both. Bill was raised Catholic even thou his mother was Jewish.

In common usage that usually means the person is not Jewish, but one parent was. I sometimes say I am 1/8 Jewish as my great Grandmother was Jewish.
