From Congressman Jeff Flake...

According to the NSF Web site, to date, more than $80 million has been awarded to the program’s nearly 200 active projects. Three-quarters of these awards, totaling over $46 million, were directed to universities with endowments greater than $1 billion.

Again, three-quarters of these awards under this program for political science research, totaling over $46 million, were directed to universities that have endowments greater than $1 billion.

Think about it. Three out of the four of the grants awarded by the NSF Political Science Program go to the wealthiest universities in the country.

...
So what kind of research is NSF charging to our credit card?

$700,000 to develop a new model for international climate change analysis;
$600,000 to try to figure out if policymakers actually do what citizens want them to do.
$301,000 to study gender and political ambition among high school and college students;
$200,000 to study to determine why political candidates make vague statements.

Why are we subsidizing colleges that don't need the money? ...to study why politicians make vague statements?

These colleges are getting all of this money, yet still charge a huge tuition to attend their school. This spending needs to be cut. We don't have the money and many of the schools don't need the money.

Give me that $600K and I can get you that answer in about 10 minutes asking if policymakers do what citizens want them to

When the FedGov still gives away money like that while asking for higher taxes I laugh.

Oh, you can give those answers in quantifiable detail with substantive supporting research and help pave a future for government reform?

You are amazing!

We should cut government spending. We should also cut the spending in the tax code. We should also allow tax cuts for those making over $250,000 a year to expire.

Don't go crying that we have no money and need to tax the rich when you're funding programs like these.
And you can bet there's lots more getting funding that doesn't need to be.

Yes, spending in the tax code. Tax expenditures. The money goes from the Treasury out to citizens. Please try to keep up with public policy topics if you want to talk or debate them.

Well let me keep looking because I'm sure businesses are on the dole too, you know, getting welfare payments from Uncle Sam? Like poor people do? I never hear conservatives B*TCHIN' about corporate welfare, do you? I hear them complain about individuals alot.

I did find this tex. What were you saying about STATE MONEY?

http://www.census.gov/compendia/stat...es/12s0434.pdf

It looks like Texas is like in the top 10 for federal assistance/aid. Any particular reason Texas sucks so much federal money? Isn't Texas a red state?
