Tax credits for children (born or unborn) are ridiculous.

We do have medical insurance. We pay an insane amount of money every year for it. The hospital bill after insurance was thousands of dollars.

Right because children don't cost a thing.

General Electric doesn't pay any federal income taxes Now that is ridiculous!

Couples with kids need the tax break. General Electric doesn't.

Linking to one tax loophole to support another? How does that make sense. I thought we wanted to get rid of all these tax loopholes.

I don't recall saying anything of the sort. You must have me confused with somebody else.

There are a handful of tax credits that make a ton of sense. Then there's a long list that need to be tossed. A tax credit low-water use toilets seems awfully silly to me but I work in a building that has them and the company gets a tax break for it.

That's lots of absurd deductions/credits.

- The $25,000 Hummer Tax Deduction (fixed)
- Child Tax Credit
- Mortgage Interest Rate Tax Deduction
- Corporate Jet Tax Deductions.

All of them are horrible and need to be fixed.

That is EXACTLY what they are up to.

If they would ever so kindly remove the boot-heel from our collective throats then dumping all tax deductions would be fine and dandy. But taxes keep going up so ...

A tax credit for a corporate jet is a lot more ridiculous that a tax credit for having children.

Not the least one bit. Their both equally ridiculous and unnecessary.

LANSING - Today Lansing Republicans held a hearing on House Bills 5684 and 5685 in the Tax Policy Committee, which would give a tax credit for unborn fetuses past 12 weeks of gestation. After Lansing Republicans eliminated a state tax credit for parents with children last year, these bills would send a clear message to parents that “your kids don’t count.” The nonpartisan House Fiscal Agency estimates that the bills will cost taxpayers $5-10 MILLION on an annual basis.

Sadly my status line is the repug platform.

Love the fetus, hate the child.
