Even though he was elected in a "fair" election Morsi has done what I expected right from the beginning of the Arab Spring. I would certainly not like to be a member of any opposition party. He has more or less told all of them that they need to be very careful if they want to avoid being treated like all of those who were serving in the government prior to the "Spring". All this makes it appear that our "leader" Obama has backed the wrong people from the beginning of the Arab Spring.
Who would you have "backed" in the elections of a foreign country? The Egyptians elected the guy, and if he turns out to be another dictator like Mubarak, then they'll have to deal with it.
He didn't "declare" himself anything, it's just a wingnut website parroting what his opponents have said about him and, well, like most wingnut websites, getting the basic facts wrong.

Democracy will never work in that part of the world because of the culture and religion there. People need to get out of this notion that everyone in the Middle East has an American inside them that is just waiting to come out.
Except Morsi has no business sense and no tribal sense. He is turning Egypt into a welfare state. Its going to be real difficult to keep his idealogy in place without enough income to keep them out of the red.
