I see opportunity all over the place but have no money to do anything about it.
Why don't you work a couple of jobs and save every penny you can to take advantage of those opportunities that you always see? Why does someone have to hand you the money or provide you with the skills to take advantage of those opportunities? What happened with the satisfaction of pursuing your own goals and providing for yourself?

If you are convinced that there is no way to take advantage of opportunities,....then there probably is no way for you to do so.

It's called a "self-fulfilling prophecy"......

Whether it is paying cash for kid's college education, traveling for weeks at a time to where ever your heart desires, buying whatever car you like, living in your dream home, buying a RV and traveling the country, to me well off is being able to provide enough money for you and your family to afford to live your dreams. While I am not currently well off, I have some family and friends that are, and it comes down to being able to enjoy your life on your own terms.

Whats your idea of "well off." Do you envy others who are 'well off"? I don't. I just want to be "well off", too.
We have all that, but with a pool instead of a pond. Since 2007 "well off" has been changed to "getting by."

Someone who makes 250K certainly is capable of that.
On what planet?

Actually, just about anywhere. If you're debt free and self sustaining money isn't relevant to being well off.

Lemme understand. You think 2 years of making $250k MINUS TAXES is enough to 'self sustain you' for the rest of your life? Are y'all high or just bad at math?

There is nothing wrong with being well off.

But being well off doesn't mean you are any better than somebody that is not as fortunate.

It's selfish as hell to be well off and not give a damn about people who aren't well off.

FIXED YOU POST BACK TO THE ORIGINAL PREMISES.

Oh hell yeah, as long as you are living comfortably and debt free already. $300,000 to $500,000 invested wisely would keep anyone.

Living in a debt trap, as most ppl do, isn't part of living well. As long as you spend less than you make anyone can be well off.

You are probably correct. My family isn't willing to bash people on welfare in order to feel like a true American.
I don't feel like Americans are taking anything from me personally when they lose their job or need a kidney which isn't covered under their health care plan.
I don't feel threatened by one more kid at college with mine that is there on a grant. I'm sure my family isn't in that league, no bet needed.
