The Iron Dome that has been protecting Israel from rockets lately was due to a Democratic President Obama. Not very anti-Semitic of him.

Plus a great number of Jews believe in the concept of government being used to help the less fortunate and to do right by the elderly, etc. rather than an "everybody is on their own and if they don't make it then they don't make it" philosophy. Their view of government's role in society is closer to the Democrats- more shared social responsibility.

Why don't you ask Greece how wonderful socialism has worked for them...

LOL don't project African American issues on to Jews. Only African-Americans see criticism of Obama as inherently racist. Jews have been progressive since Europe, have figured prominently in Leftist causes it's a natural out growth especially among secular, diaspora Jews.

Israeli and Orthodox Jews tend to be more conservative.
This. Before the election, I heard a commentator making this exact point - the Republicans hoping for a Jewish surge in the vote were deluding themselves. American Jews have always been liberal, and this commentator attributed this to them coming from Europe where they were considered the dregs of society (and worse). Being in that position, it's ingrained in the community to take up the cause of those who are also denied rights. Does not apply, of course, with Orthodox Jews.

Greece's problem was not their government structure or social philosophy. It was not setting monetary caps on what they had government doing. Switzerland, for example, has a strong belief in shared social responsibility but they are nowhere near the fiscal shape of Greece. Similar situation for Canada. And others. They have working capital markets AND socially active governments which are active within fiscal reason. Why don't you ask those countries if social activism has made them fiscally like Greece.

No need to be puzzled about the Iron Dome, Democrats are simply not anti-Semitic as a party.

with all due respect...I beg to differ...I've spoken to a lot of Greek immigrants in this country...and the overwhelming consensus was that Greeks as whole had lost their work ethic due to the socialistic policies of Greece...

That whole "everybody is on their own" cannot really be part of a culture where education is valued like it is in the Jewish culture.

The knowledge I have (for whatever that is worth) today is not the result of my family or my community where everybody was on their own, but rather from strangers (Jewish people) who gave me help when I needed it. One lady told me "You really don't know do you?"

I am grateful to Jewish knowledge, culture and values.

Greece's problem is one that is more of a rightwing problem then a leftwing problem. Greece basically gutted their version of the IRS (similar to what the GOP wants) and as a result there is almost no tax enforcement so almost no one pays taxes. Greece is the perfect example of a tax optional country and that is their problem. It is impossible to run a government no matter how small if you are incapable of collecting tax.
