No, it was a perfect example of the dangers of blind faith.

What is a little unnerving about this Jim Jones caracter is how many CA liberal politicians went to his so called Church when he was in the Bay Area. A big fan was the re-run current gov of ca. J. Brown, Diane Finestine, Rosylan Carter, Harvey Milk, Wille Browne, Moscone and lots of others in high places....It is amazing how many people have forgotten about Jim Jones and all of his criminal activities and violation of peoples rights.

Jones was a cult leader who did what cult leaders do best: con people. He conned them with free food programs and dreams of utopia.

By the time he fled CA, no political leaders were supporting him. (And Brown's a Jesuit with a Buddhist soul. He never gave hosannas to Jim Jones as some kind of pie-in-the sky deliverer. The only place that happened is in the odd re-written history of people who, it must be deduced, hallucinate to come up with that stuff.)

Actually it's more like Rush and Hannity. People who call into their shows gush all over them like they are a god or something. There is a reason there are no liberal radio shows. No one would listen to them because they don't need to be told what to do or how to think. For some reason conservatives need to listen to their dribble to know how to think.

Another link to try and sell the theory? Bet you've got dozens.

Jonestown was a horrendously awful event that happened because a lot of people chose to follow an evil man named Jim Jones who was a cult leader. Like most cult leaders he gathered his flock by apparently doing good. He promised people nirvana and a better way to live and literally fed them death instead. He is the man responsible for Jonestown. Not Jerry Brown. Not Harvey Milk. Not the Tooth Fairy.

But why face facts when you can use the deaths of innocent children to push a political agenda. Let's see how many others are willing to do that.

The truth is is doesn't matter who it is or what they use to have the people gain "sheeple" status.

In the end absolute power corrupts and there's only a very few instances in history where the politically powerful willfully give up their power. It's a short list, no doubt, and you can see it unfolding before your very eyes.
