According to the article it was based on them supporting racist principles of the party. Now, the story isn't exactly full of detail, but I think even for the UK, there is a limit to the insanity of taking away kids for political support, but racist parents going to an extreme, might not be such a bad thing.
The following article has a little more detail. I don't say I agree with taking the children away from this side of the story, but again, not my country, not my fight.
