oh so now you are folding disability into the same bracket as welfare....got it

btw...•African Americans benefit from disability insurance. In 2010, 12.6 percent of the population was African American; however, 18 percent of disabled workers receiving benefits were African American

1) I don't think the OP or his link were as successful at making the point that needed to be made, because of percentages and proportions of population.

2) It REALLY does not change much. Though blacks may use welfare at higher RATES, there's a lot more going on in the background that accounts for such numbers, much of it historical and institutional, while much of it "homegrown" so to speak.

3) Lots of people on here getting upset that "this or that was left out of the definition of welfare, or included in the definition of welfare." Fact is, if it's a government run program you're dependent on, it's a form of socialized care or "welfare."

Be it Social Security, local public schools (and bus rides!), the roads (and no, gas taxes do NOT cover the cost of our transportation infrastructure), the FAA, the FDIC, VA loans, FHA loans, etc. etc. etc.... it's all socialism. In fact, this kind of socialism helped CREATE America's middle class explosion in the 1950s!

4) People are upset about the use of welfare need to actually study welfare reform, and how it really dropped the welfare rolls (the bad kind that people envision of women at home having twenty kids their whole life).... we now have 1/4th the people receiving cash assistance that were getting assistance in 1995.... and that's WITH significant population growth.

5) Stop whining about foodstamps and free lunches. Foodstamps are just one big corporate handout to big ag and the food industry anyway. And really, we're whining about feeding KIDS?

Foodstamp use is also a lagging indicator when it comes to the economy. Expect numbers and foodstamp rolls to drop some time after the economic numbers get better.

Interesting that this photog could reasonably deduce that the items were from a nearby grocery store yet he chose the worlds "found" because those were probably good people down on their luck. Or do ya'll wanna tell me that they went in and paid for those items while the cash register was under water?
should he have use the word 'looted' even though he didn't see them take anything? just to keep liberal panties from bunching, and stifle the bleats of 'racism!!'?

conversely, should the other photographer have used the word 'found' in the case of the black guy, even though he witnessed the black guy looting? just to be politically correct?

The whole system harms and brands the recipient with a social stigma that cripples and destroys the future of the person though the blackening of their reputation...It is a bad way to dole out charity. The early Christians made a point of not broadcasting to the public who was getting charity. Giving was done in secret...That was a better way.....the person would not feel shame or embarrassment and not be branded as low life...Once you are branded no one wants to deal with what they consider are inferiors.

Today...if they know a person is or was on welfare they avoid them and will not hire them..welfare cripples through stigmatization...and institutionalizes the person to the point of being a prisoner of the state...It is a flawed system. It is not a social safety net- it is a trap.

Default Welfare for the poor and welfare for the rich

Welfare for the poor is designed to be a trap so the childern of the poor never develop the skills to challange the well off. Welfare for the rich is approved because it feeds our rapacious DEFENSE industry and its Congressional toadies. The latter is far larger then the former.

I'm not going to get into the whole "this race is better or worse than that race" that some people seem to enjoy. But I am going to provide a stat for you, because it's an important one to have alongside the ones you posted above which make it appear that "whites" commit all the crime and take all the government resources.

According to the US Census bureau, in 2011, whites were 78% of the US population, and blacks were 13% of the US population.
Compare that to each of the stats you provided, and see who you think is over or under represented in each of those areas.

We know of several white, educated people in CA sucking off the government and it is far too easy for them to keep having more children on the backs of tax payer. So when the working black American gets tired of supporting these fat white slobs, what will they do? Keep voting in a system of entitlement? Guess so.

For a long time, Blacks were never really recognized for their own achievements vis-a-vis racism that existed in the USA for a long time.

A pension is different, though, than something like food stamps or welfare checks. Those receiving pensions worked at a job for an agreed upon salary package, which included the pension after they stopped working. Certainly it cannot be taken from them now, after they have done the agreed upon work. If the pension wore not part of the compensation package, perhaps they wouldn't have agreed to perform the work, or would have demanded a higher salary in place of that pension.

I don't see any social stigma coming from most of these people.
You can tell the ones that come to a food pantry that don't want to be there and feel embarrassed about it vs the entitled who complain that their favorite brands aren't on the shelves for them to take and complain about what is offered there while they take it anyway.

Go volunteer to work in a food pantry. By the end of the day you'll be well educated.
