Pretty good article. Wonder if the left can come up with some responses other than oh he is a racist or you don't like Obama because he is black...come on folks you can do better.....I think.
Wading through the usual RWNJ choler and bile, I reduce this fellow Raidmondo's argument to:
Obama's closest historical analogy is Wilson, because Rice's presumptive appointment will indicate a change in the direction of foreign policy to "something more Wilsonian". Specifically, this "more Wilsonian" policy will consist of "extending the Empire into Africa", achieving "hegemony in the Gulf", and a "Pacific pivot" as a "key component of this hegemonic...strategy".
To anyone even passingly familiar with Mr. Wilson's conduct of American foreign policy, this is obvious drivel. If the Obama administration is intent on an aggressive pursuit of imperial hegemony in Africa, the Gulf and the Pacific (and there is not the slightest shred of evidence this is true), then the far better analogy is with Teddy Roosevelt, an unabashed believer in the projection of power and outright imperialism.
Fortunately, this pseudo-intellectual claptrap does not remotely represent the quality of the best foreign policy thinking on the Right; Kissinger would die of shame, and our nation's future would be direly imperiled, if it did.
See! There we go. That brilliant liberal logic coming out, these fascinating replies..
