In violation of the Fourth Amendment, the Senate voted to approve a bill (FISA) that reauthorizes a foreign surveillance program that keeps tabs on peoples' emails and phone conversations, all without a warrant. American Citizens are NOT exempted from this invasion of privacy.

During debate on the bill Thursday, senators had rejected an amendment from Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) that would have boosted Fourth Amendment protections for Americans by requiring specific warrants for electronic surveillance to be granted through FISA court, a secret court that oversees the DOJ's actions.

The Senate also rejected an amendment from Senator Jeff Merkley (D- Ore.), which would have required the U.S. attorney general to disclose each decision, order, or opinion of the FISA court that included a significant legal interpretation of Section 501 or 702 of FISA (and did not threaten national security).

Of course, the spineless WIMP in the White House is expected to sign the bill into law without even a whimper.

Here are the 23 Senators who fought to protect YOUR constitutional rights. We should all write and congratulate these HEROES;

Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Begich (D-AK)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Brown (D-OH)
Cantwell (D-WA)

Wow, only three "small government" republicans on the list.

Pathetic. And people wonder why the Republican Party is dying. It's sad that that some members of the big government party are the only ones left defending the constitution and limiting its power.

Pffft, we're getting stronger. Rand Paul is a REAL Republican and will make this country whole again.

What makes this even more deliciously ironic is that the one self proclaimed socialist in the Senate was willing to stand up against this while most of the "small government" Republicans went along with it.

When it comes to national security and the Fed flexing it's muscles beyond the written law, we see "bipartisanship" at work.

It's a creep, not a full takeover, that keep most Americans apathetic and accepting of what is going on.

Thus why "small government" is in quotation marks. I tend to think almost no Republicans actually believe in small government.
