Being forced to be someone you aren't hurts far more. The parents have the best interest of their child at heart in this case. You shouldnt have a say here.
I care because it can hurt kids in the long run. Are you saying you don't care about helping children?
They don't do reassignment surgery on children. Some parents simply allow the child to present how they feel. Why does it matter if a child wears a dress or pants? Clothing does not make the man.
No they don't. At 9 you barely know anything at all. Just stop with all this Frankenstein garbage.
I would agree, most 9 year olds don't know anything about it, because they don't have a gender disorder... it's not exactly a common condition. It's also not Frankenstein garbage, but a well documented condition in which the brain thinks one thing, while the body shows another. A 9-year old is perfectly capable of recognizing this discrepancy in their own body.
My father had PTSD from Viet Nam. There is no cure, you learn to cope the best you can, or take anti psychotic medications that can make you a zombie.
The option of surgery is not available to repair the broken minds of soldiers, or criminals. It is available to help people with GID.
So you are saying you can learn to cope with it though? Again, how about violent people? Don't we teach them that those thought processes and behaviors are incorrect?

Hmmmm. Someone in this thread talked about a child taking hormones. There are documented cases of "parents" (and that is a loose term in these cases) giving their children drugs to supress puberty as well as giving them hormone treatment.

No they don't. They don't even know what their body is supposed to feel like or even do at that age. You give too much credit to a child. Of course your friend is going to tell you they knew it since a very young age, although they didn't know what it was until later on in life. How does a 9 year old know exactly what it feels like to be a girl or boy? How? The only way is for there to be outside influence telling the child what they must feel. Who would that be??? Their parents...
The problem is how the bathrooms are named. Penisroom this way, Vaginaroom that way. Have both? the gas station on the corner.
