Oh, right. We should only elect people to the office of President that are from states that are cheap to travel to. Solid plan.

President Obama is from Illinois.

If he wants to vacation in Hawaii, he should pay for it himself.

Ignoring that he actually is from Hawaii, a "vacation" in Illinois would be about as expensive as a vacation in Hawaii. Maybe more.

Ah... yet another oblivious whiner who believes that there actually can be a "vacation" from the Presidency.

Bush isn't from Texas, either.

Let's examine Bush's vacations numbers for a moment;

President Bush took 149 trips to Camp David, 77 visits to his Crawford ranch, and 11 trips to his father’s Kennebunkport mansion. Since Air Force One reportedly cost $56,800 per hour to operate in 2004 (which Bush used to get to Crawford), and the plane can travel up to 630 miles per hour, it cost at least $259,657 to get the 2,880 miles to Crawford and back, each time Bush went, million dollars just for taking the plane on the Crawford trips alone.”

Sadly another shallow GOP talking point. Weak and to be expected from a impotent political party.

Where was he born? Where do his relatives live?

I was born and grew up in MI. Now I live in NC. I'm not "from" NC. Most of my family still lives in MI. We go back to MI for the holidays. This is not abnormal behavior. Why should we expect our President to be any different?

No, we should elect people who have the sense to not spend millions on vacations while the country languishes and we approach a fiscal cliff.

A president serving during a recession (and we are in one) should be expected to be frugal. It is not a stretch to ask the president to cut costs on his own vacations when we are cutting costs by bugeting groceries or deciding who gets a new coat this year. His vacations are a slap in the face to every American suffering under this economy. How many meals could that $4 million buy? How many coats for kids who have none because dad lost his job?

Yes, I expect my president to forego expensive vacations when people can't find jobs and are going hungry. It's the LEAST I should be able to expect. AND this is coming at a time when he should be working on that fiscal cliff!!!!!! He's not a leader. He uses the system just like the people who elected him only he uses it to take expensive vacations. He's their role model. They aspire to find a way to use the system like he does.
