Have you forgotten that Hawaii is Obama's home state, and it is where his family lives?

Have you forgotten that nearly everyone in the U.S. takes vacation time and visits family during the holidays, including our government officials?

I understand. You rather go off the fiscal cliff while your leader is sipping mango juice , then have your leader help you.

If you could guarantee that NO REPUBLICAN would take a vacation during the holidays, I'm certain Obama would do likewise!

Either way Obama is our President and leader as well as focal point.

Fiscal cliff looms.

So should Obama spend 365 days a year, 24 hours a day working in DC? Should we forbid him from sleeping lest something bad happen during those 8 evening hours?

Your outrage is absurd. All Presidents take vacations. It's expensive because their security detail does not stop just because they leave Washington. Bush had so many vacations, he started randomly flying in Air Force One to make it look like he was doing work. It costs $180,000 per hour to fly on Air Force One.

How many people in the United States can and, moreover, will afford a Christmas vacation in Hawaii? How close is Obama to the family in Michigan or Pennsylvania, buried in 10 feet of snow, at zero degrees or lower, while Obama is sunning himself on a beach?

Obama is no "common man." He is just as filthy rich as Romney and all the other 1% the liberals complain about. He is going to be on a beach, not just a beach, but a beach shut down for HIM and his FAMILY ONLY. He will have a private beach, for his using. How many of you have gone to Hawaii and had your own private beach?

Wow. Bush went to Crawford, Texas. Let me see here, Crawford Texas VS Hawaii? What is the perception of how the "common man" can afford this vacation? After all, the democrats represent the common man, right?

Please, Obama is no "common man" and has no clue how the other 99% of us live, anymore then Romney does. He has and will continue to live the life of privledge, 99.5% of us will never see and/or experience.
What a silly and ignorant post.

First off, I don't want a "common" man as President any more than I want a "common" man performing surgery on my dad or a "common" man managing my retirement investments. I want an "exceptional" man doing all those things. And "exceptional" men RISE TO THE TOP. They are not BORN at the top, they RISE to the top. Yes, Obama is wealthy - since when did THAT become a "sin" to you folks on the Right?

He was not however ALWAYS wealthy. As mentioned, he's a "self-made man". And yes, he surely DOES understand the middle class and lower class - he's only been wealthy a relatively short time. He really didn't make really big money until well after his BOOK WAS PUBLISHED and he spent many years as a young man working in very poor neighborhoods.

Regarding the "private beach" - there's REASONS for that. Those reasons are Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley and John F Kennedy - as well as a host of FAILED attempts on EVERY SINGLE PRESIDENT since JFK (every single one).

Ken

Most of that $4 million are sunk costs, not incremental costs.

And?

They have phones and internet and everything in Hawaii.

How many of the Congress-critters do you think are going to still be in Washington over the Christmas/New Year's break?
