You don't seem to get it. By voting down their own exchange, they are opting instead to use the Federal one. This vote actually gives more power to the Feds.
I read that HHS has concerns now that the $2 billion they were going to give each state isn't enough to get a health exchange set up. Now HHS is going to get that $2 billion for each state that said no and they still think it's not enough.
I think this was woefully underestimated.
The high risk pool started in 2010 and states have already gone back to the Fed for more money because they ran out.
CA is on their third request for more money.
The states were given enough money to last them 4 years until 2014. They ran through 4 years of payments in 2 years with CA running through it quicker.
States are burdened enough. Stick this on them and what happens when the Fed money runs out and they don't have their exchange set up ? That's on their shoulders plus fines and penalties.
The state one was merely in name only...they had no control over it. Let the slave state handle it all...why use state tax money for something they can't even control? I listened to Gov Deal from Ga earlier today talking about why his state is refusing it as well.

No..the Fed has the power no matter who runs it.
But whoever runs it is also responsible for the setup and ongoing costs because that $2 billion isn't enough.
Should have just adopted Medicare for all, end of story. None of this Obama/Romney/Gingrich/Hillarycare thats clearly a bailout to the corrupt insurance companies.
