There are only 2 statistics that matter here.

First, gun access rates, have no effect one way or another to suicide rates.

Second, violent crime increases when legal ownership of firearms is limited.

I don’t need to know much else to know that linking this tragedy to guns is nonsense.

To back this up, Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world. It has one of the lowest murder rates in the world.

NO need for gun "control" we already have gun control see what it's go us? Nowhere!

People who want to kill themselves will find a way to do it.

Violence is violence, he could have murdered with a #2 pencil if he had nothing else around him.

Let's outlaw #2 pencils?

Any psycho with half a brain can off himself, and others utilizing what's at hand, didn't have to be a gun, could have been anything.

Chair, pipe, rope whatever.

Sad he thought his life was over at his young age. He was damaged goods wrapped up in an athlete's body.

Revered as an athlete "God" of some sort in his miserable death.

Couldn't just off himself, he had to make a big "splash all over the evening news" and take innocent life with him.

That's the saddest part of all.

People who don't care if they live or die are sometimes willing to take someone else with them. Sad, but often true.

This is another sad story. Could gun control have at least prevented the murder? Without easy access to guns, domestic fights like this might not take a murderous turn.

Maybe the last of a gun would have prevented this but you never know. He could have easily killed her with one punch or snapped her neck with his bare hands. The guy was an NFL linebacker.

In the end he is the only one to blame here.

Chiefs' Jovan Belcher was drunk when he killed girlfriend, self, autopsy indicates

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher was legally drunk when he killed his girlfriend at their home and then himself outside the team’s Arrowhead Stadium practice facility, according to autopsy results released today.

The results show Belcher’s blood-alcohol level was .17 when he died, about five hours after police found him sleeping in his Bentley in front of his secret girlfriend’s apartment.

It always seems like drugs/alcohol or mental illness are involved is this stuff.

Maybe if his girlfriend had a gun she would not have been the one killed. Her mother was also there and if she had a gun maybe she could have stopped it. 2 women up against a huge drunk, enraged linebacker---how safe are they without a gun anyway?

They don't call guns equalizers for nothing.
