Stop putting words in my mouth.

Your thoughts spell what you would write.

Some traditions are just too stupid to be upheld, and this is one of them.
What, are you trying to put the christmas tree farmers out of business?!!

No need for me to put words in your mouth. Your posting history here does that all by itself.

Huh?

Christmas trees are a crop. They are grown much like any other crop (except they take longer than, say, corn) on "farms."

I have a big Christmas tree farm across the highway from me. They start their harvest around the end of October/early November, employing a number of seasonal workers (one of my sons worked there two seasons).

They harvest what they can each year and they replant for future crops.

Sheesh......it's not like they clear cut hillsides just so we all can hang ornaments and tinsel on something every Christmas.

Do you also harvest corn stalks and drag them into your house to watch them die? Do you harvest any other "crop" and drag them into your house to watch them die? Like I said, it is a silly tradition.

No, I don't drag the corn stalks into my house and "watch them die." They die all by themselves out in the garden at the end of the season.

So, what's your point?

My point is that if you want to decorate a tree for the holidays, decorate a living tree. Leave it outside, where trees belong. Do not kill it merely for the sake of tradition. I am certainly no tree-hugger, but I consider killing anything and not putting it to practical use to be a waste. There are many things that can be done with trees, from making objects to fuel for heat, but cutting down and decorating a tree merely to watch it die is a waste.
