Polls showed a sustained 6 point bump for the campaign, one that put them ahead of Obama for the first time, right after Sarah was chosen, and gave her speech at the Republican convention.
McCain would maintain this lead until the financial meltdown, and he decided to suspend his campaign (which Palin opposed) to head off to Washington without a real plan of action. It was a fatal mistake and one a smart campaign manager would have advised against, but we’re talking Steve Schmidt here, so smarts don’t enter into the equation.
In Pew’s exit poll in 2008, voters who said Palin was a factor in their vote went for McCain by a 56-43 margin. Sarah Palin energized the Party, and carried Senator McCain farther than he could have possibly gone without her.
All very true. This only goes to show just how weak a candidate John McCain was.
Palin turned out to be just a novelty, though. By election day, Palin had become a tremendous liability to McCain.
The truth is obvious. However well the pair did was not good enough. They lost.

Palin's antics for the following 4 years played a part in the second defeat in a row for the Republicans. She kept everything voters distrusted in the Republican party up front and center

Palin is the nightmare girlfriend from Hell for the Republican party. She won't let you give her up no matter how hard you try, and she knows you'll always keep crawling back for more abuse.

IMO, it all comes back to Obama's impressionable childhood - his growing up in Indonesia under constant anti-American sentiment. Should we expect anything else from him? This is why most of us cannot understand him; believe he initiates these anti-American policies.
WE grew up IN America, with true-blue, red-blooded American beliefs; we pledged Allegiance to the Flag on a daily basis, our parents & grandparents FOUGHT for America; our military was appreciated and revered; hard work and success was an aspiration to all - deadbeats (of their own making) were scorned; churches AND schools taught us shared values.

Big old bunch, too. Big, big old bunch.
Welcome to the shallow end, Robin. Gonna have to live with it for a long time. Nobody's buying what you want to sell.

Somebody go tell Sarah Palin to go fly a kite. Obama killed bin Laden and saved GM. Palin doesn't even know what newspapers she reads

Seals killed OBL, and GM would have saved itself underf the protection of bankruptcy proceedings.

What Obama "saved" was the UAW (for now).

This is ridiculous. Obama was SIX years old when he arrived in Indonesia from Hawaii and moved back to Hawaii at age TEN years old.

Hawaii is IN America. They fly the American flag there too.

Don't sell Fox news short. I still watch it sometimes. It is very entertaining and funny! When I want to laugh I turn to Fox. Right now they are fighting for their lives. Hannity especially seems very worried. They tried every single day for four years to unseat the president for 2012 and they failed. Now they are upset because he won. I am not an Obama fan but throughly dedicated only to what I see as the truth.
