I was listening to NPR this afternoon and they had tape of some town meeting in Florida. A Democratic politician stood up and pointed out that the Constitution is an imperfect document, that's why it contains amendments. This was met with boos from the TPers who were at the meeting. Really? The Constitution is a perfect document? Even that part involving a proportion of certain imported people? Even that was "perfect?"

Greetings from the place where the US Constitution was written, debated, and ratified!

There is nothing wrong with loving your mother, adoring her, admiring her and looking to her for advice and good counsel. Should someone get on their knees and bow and worship her? Should you elevate her and proclaim her a Goddess ... someone holy, divine, and absolutely perfect? I think not.

The Constitution is a document. It was written by men. These men wore powdered wigs, velvet knee-breeches, lace trimmed shirts and silk waistcoats. Some own slaves. As men, they were imperfect. How can something - as wonderful as it is - be venerated as "perfect"???

It should at least be respected.

I don't consider it sacred, but I do think that since it's the Law of the Land, perhaps we ought to try to live by it. I haven't met a liberal yet that agrees with me on that.

Am I wrong in thinking conservatives now believe the Constitution to be a sacred document?

Yes
