I think what is being said that if millions loved it, there were millions more who didn't. That plus that fact that it wasn't a real documentary is probably why it didn't get sh*t.

The description of D'Souza's work as "illogical arguments, distorted and cherry-picked information, ridiculous generalizations and nutty asides" seems pretty much spot on. I got to watch him engage in a debate with Dan Barker a couple years ago about the afterlife and near death experiences. It was basically an hour of D'Souza peddling illogical nonsense and doubling down on absurd statements even when called out using facts.
It's no surprise at all that his "documentary" also fails to gain the respect of the reality-based community.
