In September of this year Alaska was hit by a category 1 typhoon, followed by two more storms back to back. Extensive flooding occurred throughout south central Alaska. Not unlike the northeastern States after hurricane Sandy and another storm front collided in October. Below is a video I made of some of the damage in Alaska.

Then comes the General Election. The northeastern States vote for Obama, and Alaska votes for Romney. Guess which State is not getting a single penny from FEMA?

This is precisely what we can expect from a petulant and immature socialist President.

Government politicizes everything it does, it has the opposite effect of the midas touch.

Condolences. I'm in Texas, probably the most hated state by DC.
Chin up and do the best you can with what you have.

I hope they had flood insurance because that is what it looks like is needed for individuals. Most FEMA aid goes for pulbic infrastructure and takes your representative introducing a bill in congress to get it.Other than that its just aid to house people for a period. Katrina and new orleans was pure politcal and not typical. In fact the real danger came from the corp levy collpase otherwise Katrina would have been just another hurricane that hit east of new orleans. It actually zeroed in on the mississippi/alabama border with highest winds and surge.New orleans was on the west wall side which is the least areas effected. Katrina went from a disadter to a tragedy by lack of local emergency management not having done their job.The flooded homes even in new orleans wher torn down as most had no flood insurance. They have loss near 50% of people that lived that lived i that area. We had alot lose their homes iIke and you either had foold insurance or loss out.

Default Glitch

It is too bad that things like this happen but when we expect FEMA to do anything we better think about that when we vote. I didn't even know that those storms had been that bad in 'Alaska but unlike the ones caused by climate change, according to the people in the states getting the money, it must have just been a natural happening and without climate change being responsible you have to sit back and watch them get the help.

Quote:
The preliminary damage assessment was that about 25 houses were destroyed, another 25 sustained major damage, 300 received minor damage and the rest were just affected by the storm somehow, Madden said
Certainly devastating for the families involved, but with only 50 homes with major damage or destroyed this doesn't appear to be even remotely comparable to Sandy.

As far as not getting a "single penny" from FEMA, the very story you linked to says
Quote:
While FEMA isn't helping individuals, it will go in with the state on a joint program to pay for repairs to infrastructure such as roads, bridges, utilities and railroads, said Sam Hutchinson, a spokesman for the state Division of Homeland Security.
Sounds like more than a penny to me.

President Declares Disaster for Alaska | FEMA.gov

As it states in the link you provided, FEMA denied funds to individuals in a very specific case, yet FEMA made money available to the state for storm cleanup. Next time, read the whole story you link to.

Katrina victims got massive bailouts, more than any other natural disaster victim in US history. Bush was the Bailout King with a complete disregard for the US Constitution. Obama only spends federal dollars on family and friends.
