Our tax dollars hard at work preventing terrorism from landing on our shores.

Six-figure drone, hog snares in Texas spotlighted in report critical of homeland security spending | Texas Watchdog

Thanks to the Urban Areas Security Initiative there are two feral hog catchers at the ready to make Liberty County, Texas, a safer place to live.

Like the $65 for the brace of hog snares, the Department of Homeland Security has little idea whether the $7.1 billion it has spent on the initiative over the last decade has provided real security.

A $21 fish tank, a $24,000 “latrine on wheels” and two 2011 Camaros, $30,884 a pop, purchased in the name of securing the Texas homeland.

Also unused is the six-figure drone, a Vanguard ShadowHawk, purchased by the sheriff’s department in Montgomery County north of Houston. (FAA regulations prevent it from being used)

We can't cut and reform defense, though. There's not fat to cut.

Yup..bare bones here.

I can just picture those 2 hog trappers riding through pastures in their Camaros radioing back to "send in the drone" because they just spotted "the enemy" rooting some grubs.

I'm surprised there's no night vision goggles listed.

My little town bought a river rescue boat. ONly problem is they still have nobody trained to rescue anybody. That didn't stop em though as they bought a big 4x4 truck to pull it around. They usually show it off at the local high school games on friday nights. The rest of the time it sits in their garage. They of course are complaining now that they need more room and want the taxpayers to pony up for a whole new building. It really is unbelievable.

Sounds like you need to oust the local officials who've wasted this money. Use your vote. Organize and throw the bums out.
