forced income equality results in the elimination of the motive to better ones self. if being a janitor pays the same as being the CEO of a company, then why would one want the headaches of being CEO? or why would one bother with medical school if you could make the same money pumping gas, or fixing tires?

I don't think the government should force income equality, but at they same time I don't think they should promote policies, like trickle down economics, that promote and ever increasing income inequality.
This is simply because high income inequality is basically what causes Communism.
