Read article, before making declarations. Shooter was an off duty Sheriff, and was about to get run over by the woman he shot.

It's not like they don't have uber surveillance. They could have arrested her later down the line and brought the appropriate charges.

To open her car door and shoot into the car was reckless and irresponsible, and disproportionate to the original crime.

You don't shoot into a car that has innocent children in it. Somebody has to have some composure and rationality, and it's not going to be the perpetrator.

They became attempted murders when the driver tried to run over the cop. All three are pathetic excuses for humans, let alone mothers. Committing crimes while their children are with them? WHat the hell is wrong with these people? Thankfully the driver's actions only got another criminal killed, not the kids, or the officer.

So the passengers in the woman's car could be charged with felony murder? Houston, we have a problem.

Yep. For your education: Felony murder rule - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All three were committing criminal acts (actually several). The driver's violent actions resulted in death during the commission of the crime.

Quote:
n. a rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder. A typical example is a robbery involving more than one criminal, in which one of them shoots, beats to death or runs over a store clerk, killing the clerk. Even if the death were accidental, all of the participants can be found guilty of felony murder, including those who did no harm, had no gun, and/or did not intend to hurt anyone. In a bizarre situation, if one of the holdup men or women is killed, his/her fellow robbers can be charged with murder.
