The union members in this case proved themselves to be the horrid ones - classless and stupid. The message is that these people are nothing more than punks crying because someone told them no. The message is also that people like these union members should not have any power because they have low character and are likely to abuse it. Another message that people may take is that they should be prepared to deal with punks because if you attempt to destroy someone's property and business, they deserve to be able to defend it.
Look at the history of Unions and their beginnings....
History will tell you, one of the main reasons unions were formed, was to keep black people away from their jobs. Black were and still are exploited at lower wages.
You didn't see black union members all the way up to the 70's.
