I don’t expect you to know that Obama’s proposal includes $2 in spending cuts for $1 in revenue. A lot of his plan (part of it already implemented with Budget Control Act last year) follows Simpson-Bowles recommendations. But hey, you must be tuned into “I don’t trust liberal media” media.

No they are not stupid. They are right. The stupid are wrong. A person making more than $250K knows better than you do.

“Irresponsible” would be a nice way to put it.

Then I pointed out that Obama renewed the cuts but was met with a flurry of rebuttals that Obama was forced to renew those evil cuts by the republicans.
Correct.

Now, it's Bush's fault for not making them permanent? LMFAO.
The point being that Bush succeeded as much in making them permanent as Obama might in keeping tax rates lower for incomes below $250K.

Seems like somebody WANTS to raise taxes but now when the time to do it is here....people are afraid of the political fall-out and have pulled 180degree turn in their rhetoric unless they can raise taxes and pin it on the other party.
Your perceptions, beliefs and comprehension are your own.

How much longer would it be if PBS were defunded? I ask that, given your ability to comprehend anything.

On January 1, 2013 the President will sign an executive order to the IRS freezing tax collections at 2012 levels except for those who earned more than $250K. Republicans will then have two choices:

1. Accept this offer and inflame the Tea Party, Club For Growth, and Grover Norquist; who will then try to "primary" them in the 2014 election.

2. Reject this offer and suffer the brunt of taxpayer rage when almost every American has to pay back taxes on April 15, 2014. For the 2014 elections, Democrats will run with the line "Republicans raised your taxes".

Republicans have bought a knife to a gunfight.

I always say never give the government a mandate to raise taxes because the government is insatiable and they will come after more. With this belief, I was going to do renovations and would have spent money more freely but since I understand that the government always wants more instead I held back and worked toward paying my mortgage off and I am almost there. When that is done the freed up money will go toward taxes instead of other things.

Straw dog argument, i have never suggested cutting PBS would do anything by itself, but apparently you think income tax increases will.

The lion's share of our fiscal problem is spending, even if we had a roaring economy and higher taxes, all at the same time, we would still have the highest federal deficits in six years.

Whatever Obama and our government is doing with all the trillions they are spending, it's not working, because we have a fifty year high in poverty, and 16 million more people on food stamps, high unemployment, low workforce participation and a stagnant economy.

So even is we gave our government more of our hard earned money, as you suggest, they'd just spend it in all the wrong places. The past four years have taught us that much at least.

Refinance your house at the currently low rates and include the cost of the renovations. Then you get the mortgage interest deduction.

I am so disgusted with this tax and spend president that I am holding on for the worst. He thinks all Americans are rich and he is right compared to other countries. If I am right I will be ok, if I am wrong it will be better.

More info on AMT

The AMT was designed in 1969 to ensure that wealthy taxpayers didn't use loopholes to escape paying their fair share of taxes. The original target was 155 filers with the then-exorbitant income of $200,000 who avoided paying any federal taxes. Notice that it started at $200K and today Obama is going after singles at $200K.

More AMT Victims, Higher Taxes
On today's tax returns, when an AMT payment is required, affected taxpayers could end up paying thousands more in taxes. Absent any law change, by 2015, some estimates predict that nearly 50 million filers could end up paying this parallel levy.

I've gotten hit with AMT on and off over the years. I must be on the cusp of where the cutoff is given Congressional patches.

Anyways..I did get hit last year with it as well as capital gains. They've added more forms and worksheets basically doubling the effort of what it used to take to fill this crap out.

I was hit with AMT for the first time last year. I was shocked how much it increased my tax bill. That would have paid for a major renovation (hiring people to do it too)
