I don't really want to get into the gun debate per se but just wondered what people thought of the NZ gun laws, changed after Aramoana in 1990.

NZ is obviously a very different country to the US in many ways (although similar in other ways) so don't want to compare them but was posting the above link to show which guns can and can't be used by civilians in NZ. No doubt some of the laws are similar to US and others aren't. Would the guidelines for which guns NZ citizens can own be workable in the US?
