I listen to hip hop but not mainstream hip hop, this is the first time I heard of this clown, checked out his music, it's not so great, it's what you expect these days
He's an entertainer and most of what he writes is just to sell albums. Even then, a quick glance, and I didn't see him mention anything about killing kids.
While I personally think Lil Wayne is a godawful musician, I don't see the argument for tearing him down for violent lyrical content. My friends and I obsessively listened to Slayer and Venom in our teens and 20's and it never once made us want to sacrifice a baby to the devil. Why would you think that listening to rap is immediately going to make you want to shoot someone in the face?
He never said that listening to the guy's music would make you want to kill people. He said it's hypocritical to create a song about killing people and then tweet about how awful it is to kill people. Now I'm not saying I agree with the orginal post -- there is the matter of art vs reality -- but I do feel it's important that he did not in any way blame music or this musician for inspiring actual killing. He just pointed out some hypocrisy.
It's like Johnny Cash singing about taking a shot of cocaine or shooting a man in Reno just to watch him die. Or them country songs glorifying old west gunfighters(Marty Robbins, anyone?). It's entertainment and if he wishes to make a public expression of his sympathy, who are we to criticize that?

really, i dont like his music either but you have never heard of him, that is highly unlikely.
also, lets all remember that lil wayne was a gifted education and THEATER student with great grades. he is the definition of "phony thug" (if you see the definition of thug as dumb and uncultured)

I love hip hop but I think Lil Wayne is totally mediocre and has made a career of selling out to the record labels. With that said, I have no problem with him expressing compassion for the CT victims, his lyrics not withstanding. I think more people than you would think know that most rappers are "putting on" (lying) in most of their lyrics about committing violence.
It always cracks me up how folks hold rap to a higher artistical standard than they hold for their own crappy music.
No musical value? Please. If it ain't jazz, blues, roots rock, roots r&b, or classical, its probably crap that's no better than you average rap song.
Hell, in my book, after traditional jazz, music has a steep dropoff.
To the OP....his art has nothing to do with his feelings on the topic.
Anyone who can make millions from him singing is obviously connecting with enough people. That's your evidence of higher artistical standard right there.
