The guns were registered to his mother and as he was under the age of 21 he could not have legally purchased the firearms. Adam Lanza also stole his brother's ID to gain access to the school which is why the media was originally reporting Ryan Lanza as the shooter.

That doesn't mean he stole them. They may have been part of the "family collection".

Considering that he did kill her and then took the guns to her place of work, I think it is fair to say that he effectively stole them.

Clearly, laws against owning grenades just don't work. We read all the time about criminals and others up to no good heaving grenades. What we really need to do is get grenades in the hands of everyone so that it's not only criminals who have grenades.

Of course they should be able to, we pick and choose who has the right to defend themselves.

I'm just figuring it must happen all the time because there are laws against owning them and such laws banning ownership of weapons never work.

You can make pipe bombs which aren't exactly firecrackers.

Plus, grenades tend to be a little impractical for muggings or even massacres like the most recent one. Keep in mind that the Littleton duo did have a number of pipe bombs with them and set off a couple mostly for their own amusement. All the deaths were by gunshot.

Cue the "guns are more dangerous than grenades" spiel now...
