Like every tragedy commited by a wack job with a gun. The recent very sad event has raised the hue and cry for more gun control. My question is one of simple logistics. Many ideas have been tossed around on CD, security clearance for owners, a tax on weapons and or ammo, out right confiscation etc. With roughly 200 million firearms and probably billions or rounds of ammo in private hands a vast amount of these unknown, unidentified, unregistered, How in the world would we even try to implement any of these ideas?

We could implement the gun laws like they implemented laws against drugs like meth and marijuana.

Feds could come and kick down the doors of suspected gun owners. We could build a whole lot of prisons to lock people up who never harmed anyone. Meanwhile the Mexican cartels could add a new very profitable line of business. There would be more guns than ever, they'd be as easily obtained as a marijuana joint, no background checks required of course. No age limits, tons of guns would begin to be brought over the border. And the liberals would all exclaim that prohibition works.
