Since the perpetrator used registered guns in a state with relatively strict gun laws what is your solution?

What (additional) control would you propose.

I would remind you, the guns used in CT were not legally owned. He stole them and murdered their owner. He was too young to legally own a handgun, and would not have passed a background check.

There was no way for this nut to legally own a firearm. Given that, what additional restrictions would you like to see on all the law-abiding citizens that did NOT go on a shooting spree recently?

Only a complete ban of civilian ownership of firearms would have prevented what happened. And that is not going to happen.

PS... The flash suppressor, pistol grip, and collapsible stock the weapon he used had, which is what makes it "technically" an "assault weapon" did not make it any more deadly. The results would have been the same had he used a .22 rimfire revolver.

Having several armed teachers carrying concealed weapons, on the other hand, might have made a difference. But no, we made sure the nutjob was the only one on campus who was armed. DOH!

I believe in gun control and many have stated my beliefs. What is your beliefs?
You register everthing else, to vote, to drive your car, to get ID....so?
i believe in criminal control. if you commit a crime, and you are convicted, you get locked up for the ENTIRE term of your sentence. no more of, time off for good behavior. if you are using an insanity or mental defect defense, and you are found insane or mentally defective, you are STILL guilty of the crime, just mentally defective, and as such you go away to a mental institution until such time as you are judged sane, and then you serve your sentence for the crimes you committed.

we need to stop coddling criminals in this country. lets stop the garbage of letting these people lounge around in prison doing little work. they should be doing hard labor 12 hours per day 7 days per week, and earning money through the prison system to pay back their victims.

Are you making the claim they do not have gun control laws in Connecticut or anywhere these killings have occurred? Does Connecticut not require guns to be registered? Aren't there gun laws already?

In fact Connecticut has some of the strictest gun laws of any state.

Having at least one armed security officer at the school probably would have helped.

Also, since the young man had mental problems, a law prohibiting access to guns in the house by the mentally ill probably would have helped as well.

You could have just made it a "gun free zone".

Oh......

I believe in the same and wish to expand upon your post.

I believe that prison should be a punishment and not a rehab. One cannot be rehabbed if they don't want to be and that has been proven. No one is afraid of rehab but they are fearful of punishment.

Lemme guess, you're a conservative? I say that because conservatives often throw out fantasies, whenever they're asked to actually state a position and/or proposed solution to a problem... like when asked about the abortion or welfare issues, they always reply with "people should take responsibility, plan ahead, raise their children to respect their bodies, etc." Yes, those would all be fabulous things, as are the wishes you listed above - but they are just that, WISHES. In the real world you cannot control how people think, what they believe, how they raise their kids, or anything else that is beyond legal regulation. So that being said, what do you support in terms of LAW?

For the record, I am not anti-gun or anything... I have no desire to own one myself, but support the right to keep one according to state laws. In terms of reducing incidences like what happened in CT, I think we need to start with improving & enforcing mental health care. I also have to wonder, why do humans need assault weapons? A pistol or shotgun, fine, but automatic assault weapons? Granted, I know very little about guns (might even be getting these terms wrong), but that just seems excessive for a normal citizen.
